REVIEW:

If there’s one thing that can be said of the Lego series of Games for the Xbox, its that they’re a lot of clean fun, you solve puzzles, smash a few things up and rebuild your environment to get the most from the game. It’s quirky, has a lot of separate area’s for a variety of characters (including a few that can only be accessed by some of your purchased ones) and all in, it gives the reader a lot of fun whether they run around the city in the old 60’s Batman style or drive like a maniac knocking streetlights and other obstacles apart.

Add to this 70 characters to pick up, a whole host of challenges to get gold bricks and of course mayhem all round and it was a huge load of fun. I also loved the moving capes as the characters flew or jumped. The only thing that niggled me personally was the vocal additions for the characters, I loved the more slapstick humour of the earlier games and whilst the vocal talent was solid and worked well (including the greatly talented Clancy Brown), I did wonder whether this was the right way for the franchise to go.

All in, I’ve had a great many hours of play already and will continue to have quite a few more as I keep finding Gold Bricks as well as hoping to complete the various vehicles per level alongside obtaining all the characters. It’s value for money, great fun all round and a game that you can play with youngsters in the room without worrying that they’ll see something that they shouldn’t and as such, it’s a great game alongside leveller for gamers of all ages. Great fun.

I was really looking forward to playing this, but as the Vita version is just a port of the unimpressive 3DS one it'll have to be on the big screen. Shame though, as this sort of game is tailor made for playing on the move.
