LADY ELEANOR ART BOOK REVIEW: Taxidermied - Roman Dirge

Release Date: 07/10/11

SYNOPSIS:

A stunning full-color celebration of the eye-catchingly original artwork creator Roman Dirge, the first anthology of his work available anywhere. This lavish hardback includes an introduction and background commentary information on the imagery by Dirge himself, plus previously unpublished artwork, covers and strips, and paintings. The book also includes fold-out pages, displaying Dirge's work in its full glory, and some brand-new pieces created just for this book!

REVIEW:

As they say, art is subjective and whilst Roman Dirge’s artwork won’t appeal to everyone, the creator of Lenore has brought his dark and twisted title to the hardback format with this, his Taxidermied novel which whilst it won’t appeal to all, is a book that appealed to my darker side.

Each of the pieces is a modern take on the beautiful and gives a grotesque representation of the subject such as Pinocchio and Snow White which had a gothic modernisation with tongue in cheek humour as well as relating to what many would see as the fairy stories origins rather than being all sweetness and light.

Add to this some Lenore Legends in the rear of the title and it’s a book that really did impress as well as give me an artist to follow. I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out for more of his stuff as the old adage of “a picture paints a thousand words” was perhaps never more appropriate than for this title.

I love art of all kinds and creations. This is not something I'd buy, but I can appreciate the immense talent therein. :) REALLY liked seeing a post on artwork, hope to see some more. Wonderful! :)
