YOUNG ADULT REVIEW: The Girl Who Could Fly - Victoria Forester

BOOK BLURB:

Piper McCloud can fly. Just like that. Easy as pie. Problem is, the good folk of Lowland County are afraid of Piper. And her ma’s at her wits' end. So it seems only fitting that she leave her parents’ farm to attend a top-secret, maximum-security school for kids with exceptional abilities, whose skills range from super-strength to super-genius. But Piper is special, even among the special. And there are consequences. Consequences too dire to talk about. Too crazy to consider. And too dangerous to ignore.

By turns exhilarating and terrifying, an unforgettable story of defiance and courage starring an irrepressible heroine who can, who will, who must . . . fly.

REVIEW:

A tale that is something completely different to a great many books out there. Whilst the character is engaging it’s a title that really depends upon the reader liking the principle protagonista. She’s quirky, she has fears and above all she has that realistic human quality that endears her to those who want to hear her story. Beautifully written with capturing descriptiveness it was a title that not only hooked me but gave me a warm feeling upon completion. Definitely a title that will remain with me for a long time purely as it’s a very brave step away from a lot of the books out there that are selling well. A definite author to watch.
